Jeff Bailey Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of New Paintings by Jared Spreecher.

Most of Sprecher’s new works are based on a single stock photograph of three doves nesting on a cliff. The photograph was on the cover of Sprecher’s family photo album, and he found the image “both mundane and fascinating”. It serves as a foundation for Sprecher’s multi-layered paintings and works on paper.

Jered Sprecher received his MFA from the University of Iowa in 2002. This is Sprecher’s fourth exhibition at the gallery. Other solo exhibitions include Gallery 16, San Francisco and Steven Zevitas Gallery, Boston. Group exhibitions include the Drawing Center, New York; the Weatherspoon Museum of Art, Greensboro, NC; and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, Kansas. Sprecher has been an artist in residence at the Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation, the Irish Museum of Modern Art and at the Chinati Foundation, Marfa, Texas. In 2009 he was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. He lives and works in Knoxville, Tennessee.
